Hi!
In this module you will learn more about the three main SDGs that Tatawwar programme will be focusing on this year.
Our aim is to encourage you to come up with solutions to global water scarcity, health and well-being or climate change. We will support you to take your ideas to the next level through the programme.
Here are the three SDGs Tatawwar is focusing on:
Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. This goal can be addressed through solutions like;
1. Heart disease prevention and management such as tools for reducing high blood pressure
2. Reducing chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, oral health, cancer control, strokes and more.
3. Tobacco control; to help reduce the number of smokers and other forms of tobacco.
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. By providing solutions, we can ensure availability and good management of water and sanitation for all. Solutions could address problems such as these:
1. Salinisation that occurs when salt collects in the soil such as when sea levels rise in certain areas and reach the soil, or when seawater gets into the irrigation systems we use to divert water to plants.
2. Water pollution that affects drinking water, rivers, lakes, and oceans across the world. This often happens when toxic chemicals such as petrol, oil, fertilisers or pesticides that are poisonous contaminate the water
3. Wastewater from households dumped into the sea or underground water supplies. Wastewater can be cleaned and reused again to water crops. This helps to reduce pollution and manage the demand for water in agriculture.
Goal 13: Climate action to help save our planet and natural habitats. Solutions to help address this goal could focus on reducing global warming, rising sea level, deforestation and air pollution.
