In this video, we will share some important tips as to how you can be a supportive coach to the young people around you that are part of the programme.
Coaching is a form of development in which an experienced person like yourself – the coach, supports a learner in achieving a specific personal or professional goal. By guiding your children – the coachees, you would be helping them in realising their potential.
You don’t need to have technical or business expertise to support your coachee, since they will be able to research and ask the programme team for such information. What we expect from you as a coach is to keep your coachee motivated, positive and resourceful. We don’t expect you to do work on their behalf.
Here are a few essential tips to help you provide the biggest support to your coachees:
- Help your coachee identify the key goal that they are most passionate about. You can do that by helping them align their values and core beliefs to the SDGs.
- Guide your coachee to establish clear goals that are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time Bound).
- Support your coachee in developing an action plan towards achieving the goals that they have set for themselves.
- Conduct a regular review of the progress of the action plan and to remind the coachee of the alignment of the work to their core values which will help them in staying motivated.
